Seeing the World Through the Eyes of my Daughter

Updated: Oct 26, 2022

We went on a hike to Brainard Lake recently. She was strapped on my back in one of those fancy hiking packs. Walking is just part of the adventure...

She's aware of the pine cones on the ground and wanting to say hello to each tree and make physical contact with her hand.

She feels the variation in textures of the bark and branches and pine needles.

We walk at the pace that feels good for her so she can take in all that she is noticing.

The hike is much less about moving to get my heart rate up and more about being in flow with my child and our experience. When we are synced up, it is pure delight and ease and life is full of curiosity and enjoyment.

"When we are synced up, it is pure delight and ease and life is full of curiosity and enjoyment."

And sometimes our pacing gets off. And that’s ok too. I’m learning to understand this big lifelong trajectory of relationship with this precious being I call Anaiya. I'm learning that some moments (and days and weeks) I feel more flow, and other times I feel clunky. But at the heart of our connection is responsive, caring, presence and love. This is the foundation for which all of our lives unfold upon.

Big Love and Delight,

Mandalena
